Speaker 1 (00:01):

Speaker 1 (00:04):

Speaker 2 (00:07):

How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:08):

I'm good. I'm good. How are you? I'm Hollywood right now.

Speaker 2 (00:14):

Yeah, I'm here. Oh,

Speaker 1 (00:20):

So, so I deadass have worked at cafe Hollywood before. Where'd you go? What did Mel? Oh, okay. Worked at cafe Hollywood. So tell them where's cafe, Hollywood, Tom, little bit about it. And then, you know, I'm gonna get into some questions,

Speaker 2 (00:37):

All weed, New York, 2 75 log street, and you know, you know, well, you know what happened about a year ago, but we back, we got the biggest, best patio in Albany, as I can see doing day parties doing barbecues, been doing barbecues for the past two weeks now, every Saturday. Yeah. We've been doing that and they've been doing real good, but you know, everything is we getting back in motion, you know, everything is, is doing real, real well.

Speaker 1 (01:08):

Right. Right. Okay. So cafe Hollywood is this spot in Albany for me is where you going get the most authentic getaway, whatever type of vibe you trying to go for that mimic New York a little bit. You know what I'm saying? Cafe Hollywood definitely got that vibe that we haven't y'all y'all have DJs now. Still now.

Speaker 2 (01:32):

Nah, no. Right now, no we don't, but we, oh, we, we working on that, but

Speaker 1 (01:37):

Okay. Right now, who wasn upon time, there was DJs and everything, but all right. So, um, before we begin to, to the good, you did, you know, mention a little incident that y'all had. So how has been getting back into like, you know, regular regularly scheduled program? How has that been? Um, since the incident,

Speaker 2 (02:03):

I mean, when we first started back, it was tough. Last it was tough. Cause you know, they was on the news, it was bad, but you know, we had to figure out a way to get the people back inside. So we just was started doing like starting with the fights, showing fight parties upstairs, you know, we revamped the whole upstairs. We got some nice setup, three big TVs, you know, people been coming out supporting and it just slowly, but you know, now we in the summertime, it's been a lot better, a whole lot better. Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:34):

That's dope. Yeah. That's dope. Yo, I worked for cafe Hollywood and let me tell you, I, it was jumping, it was dope. You know what I'm saying? Shout out to Mel. And you know, they went through something that, you know, everybody go through where, you know, there's just people that can't act right. And you know, they just fight each other and instead of them keeping it and it's just in the streets, there's always establishment being the middle ground. So that's basically, you know what happened, but shout out to the resilience of, um, cafe Hollywood, because y'all going strong. So I bet if I'm going to cafe Hollywood right now, could you tell me any specials y'all have, like what days is the best days to go? Tell me the days that you know, y'all may have different events and shit like that.

Speaker 2 (03:22):

All well, any of the, any of the fights that's any upcoming fights? Like the Jake Paul Haseen ramen fight. We gonna have that here. That's August 6th. We doing barbecues. We doing barbecues on the back patio, you know, as y'all can see, we got the best back patio on Albany. Every Saturday we got chicken, fish, ribs, brisket, seafood, rice, regular rice, Mac and cheese. And we go all night from three o'clock to 1:00 AM. We got the best wings in town. We got, we got the best, best douce drinks we doing.

Speaker 1 (03:59):

Okay. All what did you say

Speaker 2 (04:01):

Doing

Speaker 1 (04:02):

Y'all expanding.

Speaker 2 (04:04):

Yes. We're we got bullet killer. We got 1942 Casamigos down. Whoo. We got everything. Basically. This is the best spot to come to, you know, for, to get the outside vibe and inside vibe in or, you know, we got

Speaker 1 (04:21):

OK, so I'm gonna play devil advocate. I'm gonna play double advocate a little bit. It sounds fun. It sounds cute. But what are y'all doing to make up for the, um, no music or like what's the policy behind music?

Speaker 2 (04:33):

Well, we do have music. You know, we got a jukebox that's unlocked. We could play whatever you want. You know, it's an app on your phone call, touch tunes. You can play whatever you want. Some people that are regular, let you plug your phone up. You can play whatever you wanna play as well. And we got music, you know, on the back patio you can listen to. And it's just, it's just been a real nice vibe, good energy. You know, it's been, it's been real calm, real nice. It's been real diverse. You know, we got everybody coming out. We've been doing pool tournaments as well, upstairs. Just, just different things. We've been adding. You know what I'm saying? To make it a place for everybody to come have a good time.

Speaker 1 (05:12):

Okay. Um, what about like hookah? And we is that, um, feasible in the back patio?

Speaker 2 (05:18):

Definitely four 20 friendly on the back patio, the hookah, the hookah, if you have your own hookah, you can bring not a problem, but it's definitely four 20 friendly. Like I said, the only spot and you know, you've been here, you know how it is the only spot where you can get your food, get your drinks, come inside.

Speaker 1 (05:39):

All right. So give them a tour.

Speaker 2 (05:42):

I bet. I bet. Let turn this around. So as I can see, yeah,

Speaker 1 (05:48):

That look good. The patio is always beautiful. It looks good.

Speaker 2 (05:53):

Yeah. It goes all the way to the back. We did the floors over.

Speaker 1 (05:57):

Oh, that looks good. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:00):

Yeah. We,

Speaker 1 (06:01):

Oh my God.

Speaker 2 (06:04):

Yeah. So it's real nice back here. Real, real nice back here.

Speaker 1 (06:11):

What about the inside? Has anything changed?

Speaker 2 (06:15):

I mean, babe, just the upstairs. We did the upstairs over so I could give y'all a tour inside.

Speaker 1 (06:20):

Okay. Oh my God. Yo cafe Hollywood has listen. That baby has expanded

Speaker 2 (06:35):

Upstairs. You know, this is where we doing like private events, you

Speaker 1 (06:42):

Know? Oh, gorgeous.

Speaker 2 (06:44):

Yeah. We doing like all private events here. You know, you could play pool, go watch the fight.

Speaker 1 (06:50):

Love the lights. Love. Oh, oh amazing.

Speaker 2 (06:55):

Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:57):

All right. So what's the menu. Like the place is beautiful. The drinks sound good on a daily basis. Like what's the menu like are y'all more so just finger foods or like

Speaker 2 (07:09):

Yeah. For the, so the barbecues are the more extravagant stuff that we bring out. Cause we got, you know, real cooks coming in, bringing in the food and cooking, you know, stuff here, smoke chicken, smoke ribs. But on a regular day, you know, you can get your lemon peppers, your honey barbecue, you know, your regular finger foods, sweet potato fries, regular fries, you know stuff. We also got salmon, you know, fish. We got all of those things, but we got the best wings on the block. Best hand is there. He got the best wings on the block, the best cook on the block and he'll make whatever you want him to make. You know what I'm saying? If we ain't got on the menu, he'll try to put together for you as well. You know? So, all right.

Speaker 1 (07:51):

So if I to get, are you guys hiring, like how, how is

Speaker 2 (07:57):

Looking for, you know, strong, experienced bartenders? Um, definitely some strong experienced bartenders that know the industry, know how to deal with the crowd it's early right now. We don't really pick up until about seven, eight o'clock know, bro. Just people that, you know, know how to deal with the, know how to just pretty much know how to deal with a fast paced crowd. You know, it's not a place where you gonna come to, it's gonna be a couple people, you know, it's a fast crowd. So people would experience and stuff like that. So this is the inside of the bar right here. It's been started up. And that's how it looks like on the main level.

Speaker 1 (08:44):

That's gorgeous.

Speaker 2 (08:46):

Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:47):

That is gorgeous. That is like R and B night hip hop night. Do y'all have anything of that nature or is it just strictly box for right now?

Speaker 2 (09:04):

It's strictly the jukebox for right now. Ladies night. It's Thursday night. Cool. Saturdays. Yeah. Ladies night is Thursday night. Industry night is Wednesday night. That's when other restaurants come in. Cause we got a couple bartenders that work at other restaurants and they bring other people from the industry and they come in and get special zone drinks.

Speaker 1 (09:26):

That's

Speaker 2 (09:27):

Yeah. Yeah. Like I said to come in the summer time and you can't beat it, you know what I mean? At all. And, and we have everything. We have all the, all the drinks, you know, all the TES, all the COAC best wings and whatever you, I said we don't got won't make it.

Speaker 1 (09:52):

That's dope. All. So tell us anything else you wanna tell us about cafe Hollywood to draw the people in?

Speaker 2 (10:00):

Yeah. Hopefully we could work together alongside of you put something together as well in the future. But as of now we doing barbecues every two weeks and those things have been really like bringing, bringing a lot of people out this one side in the 23rd is the log street, barbecue, all the reside. Oh my

Speaker 1 (10:19):

God. Now I'm so proud of you, yo. That's dope as fuck. Like just being able to bounce back and build the establishment back. Fuck yo. That is dope as fuck. You feel me? That's dope. That is so dope. I'm glad everything, you know, came together and I agreed the best time to, you know, grow something is in the summertime. Cause that part of your beautiful and they four, 20 friendly days. Are you guys, um, before I wrap it up, are you guys still charging at the door, but is that like

Speaker 2 (10:56):

There's no cover charge. There's no all dress code.

Speaker 1 (11:11):

What's the hours

Speaker 2 (11:13):

You open from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM every day we open every day.

Speaker 1 (11:21):

Okay. One last question. What have y'all done, um, to avoid any mishaps in the future. So I know I feel safe.

Speaker 2 (11:30):

Well for one, we never had a issue inside of here ever. And security is better. You know, honestly, we never had an issue in here that incident happened around the street. So we really just, honestly, it's been great energy, great vibey. Haven't had an issue in here since either, you know, at all, like everything's been good, it's been peaceful. You know, we don't even, you know, really even kind of entertain any nonsense at all. Like as far as like a, any type of crowd, we real, real, real, real strict with the door. As far as the vibe we want to let in here, everybody comes in for the most part. Everybody's positive, especially being allowed to smoke on the back patio and chill and relax. You can come here, you know, you can have a business meeting here, you can turn up, you can chill out with your girls. You can go on a date and so many different things you can do at cafe. Yeah. It's been, you know, it's been good and know this barbecue on the 23rd is gonna be our one year anniversary of being able to come back. You know, since we, since we were shut down, so this will be one year since. So, you know, it's like a milestone,

Speaker 1 (12:43):

Nah, for sure a milestone, you guys gonna overcome everything. That's came your way because of the resilience and just sticking strong and shout out to you. Cause I definitely, you know, have worked there and seen it go from good to bad to now it's just developing it and it's gonna go stronger. So Mel, I appreciate you a thousand.

Speaker 2 (13:03):

Appreciate you too.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
